Youth Social Action Fund Re-opens for Applications (Kent)

Community groups social enterprises and charities in Kent have until the 12th April to apply for grants of £1,000 to £5,000 to increase youth social action.

The programme aim is to increase youth social action by 50% by 2020 taking the percentage of young people that volunteer from 40% to 60%. Social action involves activities such as campaigning, fundraising and volunteering, all of which enable participants to make a positive difference to their communities and develop the skills and knowledge that employers look for. The definition of young people is between 10 and 20, and up to 25 for disabled young people. The funding can be used to support one-off events or longer projects lasting up to one year. Priority will be given to applications that:

  • Engage young people that wouldn’t normally volunteer
  • Provide enjoyable experiences that will engage people long-term
  • Demonstrate sustainability beyond the life of the funded project.
