Youth Music Initiative Funding (Scotland)

Creative Scotland is delivering the Scottish Government’s Youth Music Initiative (YMI) programme which provides funding to develop opportunities in the music sector for young people (aged 0 – 25 years). In particular, the programme aims to enable young people to achieve their potential in or through music making and to support the development of the youth music sector for the benefit of young people. There are 3 streams to apply under. These are:

  • School Based Music Making
  • Access to Music Making (grants of £1,000 to £40,000 for extracurricular programmes)
  • Strengthening Youth Music (grants of £1,000 to £20,000 for training programmes).

The School Based Music Making Programme is a targeted fund for Scotland’s 32 Local Authorities and Jordanhill School. Activity supported through this route will commence at the beginning of the academic year in August 2016.

The next application closing date for the Access to Music Making and Strengthening Youth Music is the 9th November 2016.
