Why professional development is key for business growth

 In news

Whether you want to recruit new staff or develop your existing workforce, Higher and Degree apprenticeships can increase your diversity and productivity and allow you to take advantage of new knowledge.

Don’t fall into the trap of focusing too much on the end goal and letting professional development slip. It’s important not to have tunnel vision in business and ensure you dedicate time and money into providing staff with the most up-to-date training – after all, it’s these staff that turn a profit and keep your business moving forward in a competitive industry.

Whether you want to recruit a new staff member or develop your existing workforce, Higher and Degree apprenticeships can increase your workplace diversity and productivity and allow you to take advantage of new knowledge and technologies, and it isn’t as expensive as you might think.

Worried about the costs?

Don’t be – Higher and Degree apprenticeships are funded in two ways, making them a low-risk investment into professional development for your business.

  • If you have a payroll bill of over £3 million, you are a levy payer. This means that you already pay into a pot which can only be used to professionally develop your workforce through apprenticeships.
  • If you have a payroll of less than £3 million, you are a non-levy payer. This means that you have access to government funding which covers up to 95 per cent of the apprenticeship cost.
