PROUD TO CARE: LGBT+ Training 2017
PROUD TO CARE is a free LGBT+ awareness training daytaking place on Tuesday 23rd May at St. Luke’s Community Centre, London.
This training day, organised by the LGBT Carers Project is aimed at people working in the public and charity sectors who haven’t previously received any formal training in this area. It is essential for anyone wanting to feel more confident working with LGBT+ clients and addressing issues of sexuality and gender identity. This event and the LGBT Carers Project are funded by The Big Lottery Fund.
The training will cover:
- Sexuality and gender identity language
- The barriers to LGBT+ people accessing your service and how to overcome them
- Equality legislation: Are you working in line with the law?
- How to effectively monitor sexuality and gender identity
…and much more!
We have conducted training with organisations such as the Prince’s Trust, The Alzheimer’s Society, Carers Centres and GP surgeries. 100% of training participants said that they would highly recommend the training.
‘I would definitely recommend this training. I learnt a lot that I didn’t know existed and feel sure of what I am talking about now. The trainer was brilliant, very interesting and informative. I feel everyone dealing with people should know about this.’ (Sally, The Alzheimer’s Society)’
The training day is free to attend, but you must register, and we would be very grateful for a donation which will go towards services for LGBT Carers. Suggested donation £25.
There are two sessions, to choose from. Either the morning session or the afternoon session. Each training session is 3 hours long.
