Plan International UK goes digital with new campaign
GOOD Agency has today launched its first campaign for children’s charity Plan International UK, refining its ‘Because I am a Girl’ campaign to focus on a new advocacy campaign with a difference.
Led by young Ugandan activists, the campaign seeks to recruit tens of thousands of new supporters with a petition that affirms their values of fairness and gender equality.
In Uganda, one in four teenage girls are pregnant or already mothers. And this is just one of the reasons these young campaigners are calling for better access to sexual health services and information.
The campaign asks supporters to stand with these young activists as they lobby the Uganda government for increased funding for these services. People in the UK and around the world are being urged to sign a pledge of support to add international weight to the campaign.
This digital campaign will roll out across social channels and Spotify – but will also air across Uganda in collaboration with Plan International’s local office, to galvanise support and understanding of the issue on the ground.
Reuben Turner, Creative Director at GOOD Agency said: “The team had the privilege of going to Uganda earlier this year to meet these incredibly brave and inspiring young women. Most important for us was to put the voices of the girls themselves at the heart of this campaign. To let them tell UK supporters directly how they are working to change the story of their own lives and their peers – and how much of a difference our support can make.”
Danny Vannucchi, International Campaigns Manager from Plan International UK added: “This campaign is all about putting the voices of young Ugandans front and centre of our work. GOOD’s excellent creative allows these amazing young Ugandans to speak directly and powerfully to people here in the UK and around the world. Our Because I am a Girl campaign has a great track record of success, and we are sure this campaign will be no different.”
