Yes we grow week by week and indeed this week has been so busy, many have been asking about me I am going back to hospital Monday.  They know lots of things are ok but something is not quite right which could be a viral infection. So thank for all your good wishes and hope to be back talking to real people soon.

The Education and Training Foundation annual survey runs until the 26th of October.  This survey is entirely confidential and is conducted for us by RCU, an independent research company. This is your chance to let us know what you think about our work, and results are carefully considered by our Board.  All individuals and organisations in further education and training are strongly encouraged to take part.

As you know my thoughts they are a waste of space, time and Funds, but that’s my thought’s give yours at Take the survey herehttps://www.snapsurveys.com/wh/s.asp?k=147514315946

Chief Executive David Russell said; “At the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) we believe in being open, effective and responsive to your needs.  We need to hear from colleges, independent training providers, and the statutory and third sector.  We need to hear from leaders and heads of department, but just as important, from teachers, trainers, assessors and other roles.

Do you know the full range of Foundation programmes and services? How effective are we?  What is your experience of engaging with us and our delivery partners? How can we best keep you informed about what we offer?   We belong to the sector collectively and it is our role to support the sector through its various challenges.  The more responses we receive, the better we will understand your needs and the better we will be able to address them.”

Skills minister Robert Halfon has reassured industry observers concerned that the new apprentice levy will be ‘gamed’ under the new rules.

Speaking at an event at the Conservative Party, Halfon said that although some abuse was inevitable he was sure that it would be limited by safeguards.

“I’m not going to lie to you, inevitably there may be some gaming of the system but I don’t actually believe it will be widespread,” he told attendees at a fringe event at the conference in Birmingham.

“I don’t think this will be as widespread as one may think. If there is evidence of it after the levy is in operation it will come through and then we will look at it.” The Levy comes into effect in April 2017, and Halfon has committed to that timeframe, despite calls from some employers for a delay. Earlier this week the Dept for Skills said it had delayed the introduction of an apprenticeship provider register.
