About the Role: It is a very exciting time at Leonard Cheshire, a time of unprecedented change for disabled people. We need people with experience of accessing significant funding from Trusts and Statutory funders, including local authorities, GLA and central government. In this varied role you will be working in a growing team, raising funds for our UK programmes and projects. You will lead and support funding bids and work effectively with colleagues in our London office and across the UK. Experience of raising income from Trusts and or Statutory funders is a requirement for this role.

With significant changes proposed to how IR35 is assessed in this sector from April 2020, we are conducting important research. According to ContractorUK, one in five current UK contractors believe they will be forced to leave contracting for a permanent role post-April 2020, due to the serious impact the new legislation will have on their livelihoods. 65% of contractors believe their income will decrease following the introduction of the new IR35 rules. As a small incentive for those completing the survey, we have a prize draw for a £250 Amazon voucher. Details are provided at the end of the survey.

Welcome to Sams Wall! I hope you are all doing well and had a great week! As we are moving into the Summer months we are now in the throws of festival season and in-line with issues close to my heart which surround homelessness I felt it pertinent to talk about an organisation called Musicians Against Homelessness (MAH).
MAH have been around since 2016 growing and expanding to encompass more UK festivals and take on more musicians who wish to join them in their fight to end homelessness, since they launched they have managed to raise over £150,000 for UK homelessness. They’re also winners of the Points of Light Awards for outstanding charitable services as well as being Pride of Britain finalists.
MAH are this year, once more, working in conjunction with the national charity for homeless people; “Crisis”; most of you undoubtedly will know who Crisis are. Crisis have a steely determined to end homelessness, dealing with it in a person by person way and by influencing policies to ensure everyone has a place to call home. As we know, Homelessness is devastating and leaves people vulnerable and isolated but Crisis offer ground-breaking housing, health, education and employment services successfully working with thousands of homeless people across the UK every year.
MAH have held hundreds of festivals and gigs across the UK sourcing spaces and opportunities for up-coming musical talent, mainly to raise money to support the objectives of other UK homeless services and charities, this year, as previously mentioned they are supporting the charity Crisis as well as supporting the ‘Simon Community’ in Northern Ireland; a charity that helps homeless people back into accommodation along with providing a range of preventative and specialist community support services.
The next festival MAH are involved with is the popular, annual Lindisfarne Festival on Beal Farm taking place 29th August – 1st September; this is an epic three day festival on the Northumberland Coast, overlooking Holy Isle. The festival is an independent creative arts and music festival and attracts thousands from across the UK each year. MAH have, for the third year running, have managed to secure slots for the main stage (as well as having their own Musicians Against Homelessness Stage). This weeks bad news item: A provider with directors on the board of a local enterprise partnership has refuted conflict of interest allegations after winning nearly all of the £32.6 million available for the area in a recent European Social Fund tender.
The Growth Company Limited, which won £27.6 million in the Greater Manchester area, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and its LEP.
The provider has six directors who hold various roles at the organisations it is accountable to.For example, its chair, Richard Topliss, is a member of the Greater Manchester LEP, while one of Growth’s directors, Michael Blackburn, is the chair of the LEP.
The provider won all three ESF contracts that it applied for to deliver training in the Greater Manchester LEP.
