Mobile technology helps blind and vision-impaired veterans
Military sight loss charity Blind Veterans UK has announced that it will be able to increase the number of home visits it provides to armed forces veterans living with sight loss by more than 30% a year, through the use of mobile technology.
The charity provides bind and vision-impared ex service men and women with lifelong support including, welfare support, rehabilitation, training and residential and respite care.
It will be collaborating with mobile workforce softaware provider Totalmobile to reduce travel and save thousands of hours in administration time.
The mobile working solutions are being introduced across its field workforce of more than 125 staff, who will now be able to carry out most of their tasks onsite without the need to return to the office to carry out paperwork.
“This is a really positive story for the charity and the people we support,” said Umesh Parekh from Blind Veterans UK.
“Working with Totalmobile solutions, our team will now be able to use mobile devices to capture and submit information during assessments and access information on the move in a way that they wouldn’t have been able to before.”
“This will significantly reduce the amount of administration and travel required, meaning that our team can spend more time actually providing services to the blind veterans we support and reducing the time those in need have to wait.”
