Latest training courses and resources from the ETF
As Head of T Level Professional Development, I am very aware that this time next year, the 2020 providers will be about to start delivery of three new programmes – T Levels in Digital, Construction, and Education and Childcare.
Since April this year we have been offering high-quality support to institutions confirmed to deliver T Levels in 2020 and 2021, as well as those considering future implementation.
Individuals and organisations can access a range of funded activity including Industry Insights, face-to-face and online modules and regionally-based collaborative projects.
From working closely with those providers, we know that the Understanding T Levels offer provides valuable training on how T Levels will affect your particular role and, to build on this, the self-assessment tools* help identify priorities and planning for the introduction of the programmes.
The Teacher Development Programme includes videos of subject specialist teachers offering hints and ideas, and online pedagogy modules demonstrating recent innovations in teaching which could be used during available CPD windows before the start of term.
We have drawn on best practice from our comprehensive range of CPD courses to support effective teaching of maths and English (as highlighted in last month’s Course newsletter) and our EdTech Strategy, to build a programme of support* to embed English, maths and digital core skills in each T Level route and pathway.
An opportunity to be involved in one of fifty funded, regional, collaborative Teacher Regional Improvement Projects is a great way to improve the quality of technical teaching and learning in a diverse range of settings. Remission funding is also available.
CPD for Middle Managers and Governors draws on expertise from the broader ETF Leadership Development Programmes developed with key sector experts, and is designed to ensure that sector leaders have the skills and development opportunities they need for their organisations to be T Level ready.
Effectiveness of Leadership and Management is a key focus of the new Ofsted Education Inspection Framework – it emphasises “focus on improving staff’s subject, pedagogical and pedagogical content knowledge to enhance the teaching of the curriculum and the appropriate use of assessment.”
An assessment framework for T Levels is being developed by awarding organisations but reassurance can be taken from that fact that it will be based around the established framework used for Apprenticeships. We will be running numerous workshops on ‘Assessment for T Levels’ from August 2019 until March 2020.
