Higher Education Funding Council for England – Funding to Address Barriers to Student Success (England)

HEFCE-funded institutions of higher education (HE) are now invited to submit proposals on a risk-sharing basis for projects on learning and teaching and supporting student success. There are two separate calls which institutions may apply for:

  • Call A – Small-scale, ‘experimental’ innovation in learning and teaching.
    • Funding of up to £50,000 is available per project and the HEFCE is particularly interested in proposals that:
      • Develop curriculum innovations from interdisciplinary research, interdisciplinary professional practice or both
      • Respond to employer demands for advanced skills or knowledge
      • Develop use of learner analytics for particular pedagogic purposes.
  • Call B – Addressing barriers to student success.
    • Funding of up to £500,000 is available per:
      • Project to scale up activities to address barriers to student success
      • Proposals should be collaborative projects involving a minimum of three institutions.

Each call has a different closing date, the closing date for Call A is noon on the 14th October 2016 and for Call B is noon on the 30th September 2016.
