Funding Available to Community Groups to Tackle Knife Crime (England & Wales)

The Home Office has launched a new £500,000 Knife Crime Community Fund to reduce knife crime and have a positive impact on young people at risk of carrying a knife and committing crime.

Voluntary and community sector groups can apply for grants of up to £20,000 (the Home Office will consider greater levels of funding for partnership projects). Bids will be assessed on the extent to which they demonstrate:

  • Delivery of outcomes to stop knife crime
  • A proven track record of delivering local interventions
  • Ability to work with children and young people
  • Value for money
  • How they will work in partnership with other projects and services already being delivered in the local area.

The closing date for applications is the 31st October 2017. The Home Office will then inform successful organisations by end of November and, providing financial details are provided promptly, will transfer the funds in December. The funds are to be spent by 31 March 2018.
