Carers Support Services – engagement opportunity for providers

Kent County Council

It is Kent County Council’s intention to commission a new Countywide Carers Assessment and Support service.  We will do this in partnership with Kent’s seven NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups.

Our aim is to make best use of the resources available to us, and maximise the positive impact this service has on Kent carers. The resulting service should:

  • provide support, advice and information which contributes to making Kent a carer friendly county; where carers’ contribution to family life and society generally is recognised, valued and supported
  • enable us to work closely and strategically with our providers
  • incentivise innovative and creative service development by being outcome focussed
  • promote and maintain health and wellbeing
  • identify and seek solutions for gaps in care pathways.

We are keen to hear the thoughts and views of providers about how we might achieve these objectives and are organising workshops in Maidstone on Thursday 30th March 2017 and Friday 31st March 2017. Any themes and topics which result from the workshops will be used to inform any future engagement.

As well as attendance at the event, we would also like to offer you an opportunity to submit written ideas.  Please provide no more than two sides of A4 (including any diagrams) answering the questions:

  1. What is working well with Carers Assessment and Support and Short Breaks Services now?
  2. What isn’t working well?
  3. What do you think the future model of carers support should look like / include?

If choosing to submit your written ideas, please ensure these are submitted to the Community Support email address before 1700 on Monday 27th March.

The content of each workshop will be repeated and you will only need to attend one. Please email communitysupport@kent.gov.uk to request your place. Note, due to space limitations, we ask that no more than 2 people per organisation attend. This will be communicated when detail of the workshops are confirmed.
