Capacity Building for Community Sponsorship of Refugees

 In news, updates

The Home Office has launched the Capacity Building for Community Sponsorship of Refugees scheme to support the Refugee Resettlement Programme, which is a joint unit between the Home Office, the Department for International Development and the Department for Communities and Local Government.

The Government is providing £1 million over two financial years (2018/19 and 2019/20) to encourage the expansion of the Community Sponsorship scheme by building capacity for community groups wishing to participate through the focussed provision of training and support.

The Community Sponsorship Scheme is aimed at supporting communities that wish to help a refugee family rebuild their lives in the UK. Community sponsors can be formed from a wide range of groups with a desire to help refugees and can include faith groups, local charities and community businesses.
