Arts Council – Unlimited III Commissioned Grant
Unlimited III, a programme to support deaf and disabled artists, supports Arts Council England’s aim of addressing the under representation of Deaf and disabled artists across the arts sector by supporting the creation of ambitious new work, developing opportunities for new collaborations and increasing the range of diverse work available to audiences.
It follows on from the previous programmes – Unlimited and Unlimited II – that ran from 2009 to 2015.
During this time the UK Arts Councils and the British Council commissioned 29 pieces of work by deaf and disabled artists to help celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games through a series of festivals. The 10 day Unlimited festival attracted audiences of over 100,000 for the free programme of events and performances, and sold 4,539 tickets for the ticketed events.
In 2013, The Arts Council invested in Shape, the disability-led arts organisation, and arts producing organisation Artsadmin to support Deaf and disabled artists through a programme of commissions and complementary mentoring programmes between 2013 and 2016.
The Arts Council would like to capitalise on the Unlimited brand and are running a further programme of commissions and mentoring from 2016 to 2020.
The deadline for applications is 11 February 2016 (5pm)
