Active Communities 2017 (London)

 In news, updates

Sport England and The London Community Foundation are working together to increase participation in sport and activity across communities in London and to support more inactive people to become active. The first round of funding has been restricted to the following 5 priority boroughs which have a more acute need and significantly lower levels of activity: Barking & Dagenham, Brent, Greenwich, Lewisham and Newham. In addition to increasing levels of physical activity in the 5 priority boroughs, the fund also aims to support groups who harness sport and physical activity as a way to connect with their communities; to engage and inspire those facing disadvantage, to reconnect people with society and to provide hope of turning lives around. The fund is available to a wide range of organisations such as constituted community groups, registered charities, companies limited by guarantee, social enterprises or Community Interest Companies. Statutory organisations, such as Local Authorities and schools are ineligible to apply however the Community Foundation we can fund PTA’s or “Friends of” groups. Grants are available of between £1,000 and £10,000 and the closing date for applications for Round 1 is the 25th September 2017.
