Sustainable Community Forestry Programme (International)

Non-Governmental Organisations can apply for grants of up to £3,000 through the Sustainable Community Forestry (SCF) Programme for projects in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Projects that will be supported must start after 1st January 2017 and run for a maximum of one year. Current funding priorities for the SCF Programme are to support community-based tree planting initiatives that:

  • Plant a minimum of 5,000 trees per £1,000 of grant funding
  • Preserve and promote indigenous knowledge of natural resource management
  • Support community self-determination and advocacy to enhance communities’ rights to manage natural resources in a sustainable way
  • Mitigate the negative impacts of climate change
  • Mobilise communities to tackle deforestation through education and awareness raising.

To be eligible for the SCF programme the applicant organisation must: be a registered NGO or CBO in the country where the project will take place.

The deadline for applications is 17th October 2016.
