Hackney – Main Grants Programme

Hackney Council provides its Main Grants Programme to enable local voluntary and community sector organisations to deliver services to local people in line with the Mayor’s priorities for the borough.

As part of Hackney Council’s vision to improve the borough, the Council supports a range of planned community and voluntary sector initiatives each year.

The funding is for local projects which:

  • Promote social inclusion, encourage independence and develop personal resilience.
  • Build positive relations between different groups and communities that will maintain the high levels of community cohesion in Hackney.

The funding can also be used for holiday playschemes.

Grants from £5,000 to £30,000 are available for one year projects.

The Council anticipates making very few awards for the maximum amount of funding and urges applicants to rigorously assess their projects costs before making an application.

The average grant for a play scheme is expected to be £8,000.

The deadline for applications is 21 September 2016 (12 noon).
