£1.6 Million in Grants Awarded to Bring About Positive Change within Communities (Northern Ireland)

Groups in Northern Ireland that are bringing about positive changes in their communities have been awarded £1.6 million through the Big Lottery Fund’s People and Communities programme. Through the programme, grants of between £30,000 and £500,000 are available to voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations for projects that enable people to make positive changes to their lives and for communities that build on their strengths and share learning.

  • Organisations that have received funding include:
  • Lisburn and Castlereagh Community Trust which received a grant of £85,000 to provide volunteering opportunities and support to people using their food bank service, some of who suffer from issues including mental health problems, homelessness, debt problems, and alcohol and drug addictions.
  • The Connected Age project which received a £444,208 grant to support people aged over 60, living in the Causeway Coast and Glens, who are socially isolated or vulnerable.

Applications to the People and Communities programme can be submitted at any time.
