Newsletter & Bids 27 2017

 In bids

Dear Members

download

This week’s newsletter bids, grants and funds comes to you in conjunction with our sponsors London Based Manley Summers Training.  We have 47 pages going out to some 3,626 organisations or people within the Training and Development Industry.

Fears are growing that apprentices may lose their voice at the top level, after the Institute for Apprenticeships deferred an invitation to have its own apprentice panel make a presentation to its board.  In an email sent to the apprentices who make up the 11-strong panel and seen by FE Week, the IfA withdrew its request for a presentation about a ‘quality toolkit’ at its monthly board meeting on July 5.  A later date of October 4 was suggested as an alternative.

A spokesperson for the National Society of Apprentices, itself a division of the National Union of Students, told FE Week that it was “deeply concerned” that the invitation to present in July had been withdrawn. http://feweek.co.uk/2017/06/30/anger-as-ifas-apprentice-panel-presentation-postponed/

So many people have had many e-mails from the ESFA this week so please check to make sure you’re up to date with all the latest items.

HM Inspectorate of Probation Voluntary Sector Workshops. [17th July, London, free | 21st July, Cardiff, free | 2nd August, Newcastle, free | 17th August, Manchester, free]  If you were the Chief Inspector of Probation, what standards would you set for the work of the National Probation Service, Community Rehabilitation Companies and Youth Offending Teams?

What are the indicators of good quality services commissioned from and delivered by the voluntary sector? How do probation services engage with your organisation? What are indicators of good commissioning practice? How should this be judged by HM Inspectorate of Probation?

HM Inspectorate of Probation want to ensure that future inspection plans are well informed about the role and contribution of the Voluntary and Community Sector. Clinks is holding a series of workshops with HM Inspectorate of Probation so that voluntary organisations can learn about the inspection framework and help to set standards which will be used for future inspection of probation services. Draft inspection standards will be published towards the end of June and will be available here.

This is the perfect opportunity to explore wider welfare policy issues, explore best practice in supporting people into employment, and network with colleagues from across the country.

Key Issues to be Addressed:

Changes from previous welfare-to-work schemes

Building on success and learning lessons from the Work Programme and Work Choice

Overcoming barriers to work: supporting those with complex needs into employment

The impact of the universal credit rollout

Good practice case studies of helping hard-to-reach groups into employment

Creating successful programmes built on integration with other local services

About the Day:

The morning session will focus on Government action and policy. Delegates will explore the new welfare-to-work scheme and wider welfare issues. In the afternoon session delegates will hear about best practice currently underway in supporting unemployed people into work.

There will be plenty of time during the day for delegates to network with colleagues from across the country.  Morning refreshments will be served upon arrival with a networking lunch to follow. Any special needs or dietary requirements should be notified to us upon booking.
